Short answer: all three major clouds are reliable and have data centres in India. Choose AWS for the broadest service catalog and ecosystem, Microsoft Azure if your business already runs on Microsoft 365, Windows Server or .NET, and Google Cloud for data analytics, BigQuery and AI-heavy workloads. For most SMEs, the provider matters less than good architecture, security and cost management.
Indian cloud regions
| Provider | Indian regions |
|---|---|
| AWS | Mumbai (ap-south-1), Hyderabad (ap-south-2) |
| Microsoft Azure | Central India (Pune), South India (Chennai), West India (Mumbai) |
| Google Cloud | Mumbai (asia-south1), Delhi (asia-south2) |
Hosting in an Indian region keeps latency low for Indian customers and helps with data-localization expectations in regulated sectors.
Strengths of each provider
AWS
The largest catalog of services, the biggest partner and talent ecosystem in India, and mature tools for everything from simple EC2 servers to serverless and AI. Usually the default for startups and SaaS.
Microsoft Azure
Deep integration with Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Windows Server, SQL Server and Dynamics. Licensing benefits can lower costs for businesses with existing Microsoft licences.
Google Cloud
Strong in data analytics (BigQuery), Kubernetes (GKE), and AI tooling, with simple, sustained-use pricing for compute. A good fit for analytics-driven and container-based workloads.
How cloud pricing really works
- Pay-as-you-go: billed per second or hour of compute, per GB of storage and per GB of outbound data.
- Commitments: 1–3 year reserved instances or savings plans can reduce compute cost substantially for steady workloads.
- Hidden costs: data egress, idle resources, oversized instances, unattached disks and forgotten snapshots.
Most Indian businesses we review are overpaying because resources were sized for peak load and never revisited. Cloud account management with monthly cost reviews usually pays for itself.
Decision framework
- Existing stack: Microsoft-heavy → Azure; open-source / SaaS → AWS or GCP.
- Team skills: pick the platform your team or partner knows deeply.
- Workload: data and AI → evaluate GCP; broad application hosting → AWS.
- Support and partners: local partner support often matters more than list price.
- Do you need hyperscale cloud at all? A simple website or small ERP may run more cheaply on a managed VPS.
Security basics on any cloud
- Enable multi-factor authentication and never use the root account day to day.
- Least-privilege IAM roles for every user and application.
- Automated backups and a tested restore process.
- Billing alerts to catch unexpected spend early.
Moving to the cloud
Globalique plans and executes data migrations to AWS and Azure with integrity checks and minimal downtime, then manages accounts for security and cost.
